April 20 - 24

Week 31

Welcome to Mt. Vernon Intermediate

Dear Students and Families,

As we wrap up another week, we want to take a moment to thank our students for the effort they have put into ILEARN testing. They have shown patience, focus, and determination, and we appreciate the way they are working through each testing session and doing their best.

ILEARN testing will continue next week with the following schedule:

5th Grade: Monday, April 20 – Math | Tuesday, April 21 – Social Studies
6th Grade: Monday, April 20 – Math | Thursday, April 23 – Science

As we continue testing, your support at home plays an important role. Please make sure your student comes to school each day with a fully charged Chromebook and headphones, as both are necessary for testing. It is also helpful for students to get a good night’s sleep and start their day with a healthy breakfast so they are ready to stay focused and do their best.

Nee-Dohs at School
We have recently experienced several instances of Nee-Doh toys bursting, and the material inside has caused damage that cannot be removed from our carpets and classroom spaces. To help maintain a clean and safe learning environment, we are asking that students DO NOT bring Nee-Dohs or similar items to school.

We appreciate your partnership and support during this time and are looking forward to another great week with our students!

Sincerely,
Ms. Ashley Gustin
Principal

From the Nurse:

This is a friendly reminder that students are not allowed to carry medication on them at school, including over-the-counter medications such as ibuprofen, Tylenol, etc. According to school policy, all medications must be kept in the health office and administered appropriately.

Recently, several ibuprofen tablets were found on the floor in the gym. While we do not know how they got there, this serves as an important reminder of why this policy is in place—to help ensure the safety of all students.

If your child needs medication during the school day, please send it to the health office with the proper forms so it can be stored and given safely. The forms can be found here.

Thank you for your help in keeping our school community safe. Please reach out if you have any questions.
