Excellence in Education: A Tradition of Success
Mt. Vernon Intermediate School (MVIS) is located on the Fortville campus and was reopened in the fall of 2025. Student enrollment in 2025-2026 was nearly 830 students in grades 5-6. MVIS is a supportive bridge in academic, social, and personal growth for students as they transition from elementary to secondary schools. Students have the opportunity to participate in band, choir, wellness, STEM, art, athletics, and extracurricular activities.

  • Two-person teams teach 5th grade: Science/Math and ELA/SS

  • 6th grade has the opportunity to participate in Mt. Vernon Middle School’s athletic programs

  • Several clubs and extracurricular activities are offered
  • Media Center hosts a wide variety of books to meet the needs and interests of students
  • Multi-Language Learners (ML) assistance program 
  • Tiered instructional and behavioral supports

  • Executive functioning is taught during Organization Time
  • Parent-Teacher Organization supports teachers and students, connecting our families to our school
