Week 19

Welcome to Mt. Vernon Intermediate

Dear Students and Families,

We are excited to officially kick off the second semester at MVIS and welcome students back ready for a fresh start. Next week, administrators will be hosting Marauder Mindset meetings with students to review and reinforce our behavioral expectations, helping ensure a safe, respectful, and successful learning environment for everyone.

Looking ahead, ILEARN Checkpoint 2 testing will begin on January 20th. Daily attendance during testing is especially important so students can stay engaged with instruction and feel confident when testing begins.

As a reminder, student snacks should follow the district-wide snack policy, which is posted on the district website. Thank you for your continued partnership as we work together to support student success this semester!

Let's Go, Marauders!

Sincerely,
Ms. Ashley Gustin
Principal

This is not passive entertainment—it’s movement, excitement, and imagination brought to life.
That evening, families return to watch the Noblesville BOOM tip off at 7 PM, giving kids the chance to see what hard work, teamwork, and belief can lead to.

A Trades and Career Pathways Experience for Mt. Vernon Families
Thursday, January 22, 2026 | 5:00–8:30 PM

Mt. Vernon students show up every day curious, capable, and eager to build something meaningful. They’re ready for real skills, real opportunities, and real pathways that help them imagine futures they may not yet see. What they need now is exposure, guidance, and community. Hands-On Futures was designed to meet that need.

What This Event Is
Hands-On Futures is an immersive, experience-driven evening where students and families explore the skilled trades, healthcare, logistics, technology, manufacturing, public safety, and other in-demand careers shaping Indiana’s future. This program aligns with the state’s new Graduation Pathways and responds to what we hear from parents, educators, and employers alike: Families want earlier exposure. Students want real-world skills. Employers want a stronger talent pipeline. This event brings all three together in one place.

What Families Will Experience
• Hands-on activities using real tools and equipment
• Live demonstrations from skilled trades and technical experts
• Access to employers, training partners, unions, and postsecondary programs
• Clear information about wages, credentials, and pathways
• Practical workshops helping families navigate Indiana’s new Graduation Pathways
Hands-On Futures is not a traditional career fair. It is a high-energy, interactive experience designed to spark curiosity, build confidence, and help students of all ages discover what is possible.

Why It Matters
Indiana’s workforce is changing rapidly. Mt. Vernon is committed to preparing students for the opportunities ahead by giving them early, meaningful exposure to career-connected learning. When students have access, families gain clarity, and our community gains momentum.
Hands-On Futures strengthens:
• Early career awareness
• A more prepared and confident student pipeline
• Stronger school–industry partnerships
• Visibility for local employers seeking tomorrow’s talent
Our Core Belief
There is more than one way to a great life.
Every path deserves to be understood, celebrated, and accessible.
At Mt. Vernon, we are not just preparing students for graduation.
We are preparing them for life.
Hands-On. Purpose-Driven. Connected.
