Welcome to Mt. Vernon Intermediate

Dear Students and Families,

We’re excited to kick off our Fall Food Drive to support Farm–Fortville—thank you in advance for helping us give back to our community.

Our athletics programs are in up and running, and we love seeing our students represent MVIS well-both on and off the court.

Families can expect ILEARN checkpoint information to come home next week, which will help you see how students are progressing so far this year.

As temperatures continue to drop, please remind students

Finally, a heartfelt thank you to all the veterans who joined us for our Veterans Day program—your presence meant so much to our students and staff, and we appreciate your service to our country.

Veterans Day Program

Thanksgiving Assistance

Outlook Christian Church has volunteered to provide Thanksgiving baskets to families that might need some extra help for Thanksgiving dinner. If you are in need, please fill out this form by Wednesday, October 29th. Baskets will be dropped off at the intermediate school on Monday, November 24th (the Monday before Thanksgiving).

If you have students at multiple schools in the Mt. Vernon School District, please fill out the form that is correlated with your youngest child's school. If you have any questions, please reach out to michelle.shepherd@mvcsc.k12.in.us.

SchoolStore Fundraiser

We started a SchoolStore program to help our school raise money. Scan the QR code on the Book Buddy Lanyard that was sent home with your student to find out how the program works. Parents, please read over the information describing how you can participate. Your student will earn a participation prize when they return the filled-out Student Lanyard to school, and they can earn more great prizes when your family and friends help our school raise money. So don't forget to send the filled out Book Buddy Lanyard back to school, and thanks for your support.

Athletic Updates

Below is the information about winter sports for sixth grade students.

ILearn Checkpoints

Attached to the newsletter are two documents. One document provides instructions on how to access student's scores on ILearn Checkpoints. The second document provides information on understanding student's English/Language Arts and Mathematics scores.

Students will receive their scores and school code when the testing window closes after November 14th.

Holiday Assistance

Families in need of holiday assistance are invited to apply by completing this form. Please note that applications are due no later than the end of the school day on Monday, November 3rd. Applications received after this date cannot be processed.

Early Pick Up

If you are picking your student up early from school, we ask that you do so BEFORE 3:00pm. The end of the day dismissal has several transitions for students and picking students up during this time poses some challenges for staff. Additionally, if a student has a change in transportation, please notify the front office and teachers before 3pm. Thank you!
