Week 22

Welcome to Mt. Vernon Intermediate

Dear Students and Families,

We survived a very cold week, which included one eLearning Day and two virtual learning days. During our virtual learning days, students participated in synchronous learning from home, and we were incredibly impressed by the strong attendance, positive student behavior, and even moments of fun and connection during online classes. Students showed remarkable resilience and responsibility, clearly living out our CHARGE values—from Actively Focusing during live lessons, to Giving Effort despite a change in routine, and Embracing Challenges while learning from home. A sincere thank you to our parents for your support in making sure students were prepared, logged in on time, and ready to learn. Your partnership made all the difference!
The ILEARN Checkpoint 2 testing window has been extended by one additional week. Once the testing window closes, student score reports will be sent home via ParentSquare. Thank you for your continued support as we work together to help every student grow and succeed.

Sincerely,
Ms. Ashley Gustin
Principal

Bullying Awareness: How We Support Student Safety at MVIS

At MVIS, we take bullying seriously and are committed to keeping students safe. Bullying is repeated, intentional behavior that involves a power imbalance and is meant to harm, intimidate, or exclude others. If your child experiences or witnesses bullying, please let us know as soon as possible. We can only act on concerns that are reported, and timely communication helps us respond effectively. We also encourage families to talk with their students about speaking up, treating others with respect, and reaching out to a trusted adult when something doesn’t feel right.

A Note from the Nurse

Important Health Reminder for Field Trips
If your student has a severe allergy, asthma, or a seizure disorder, a current action plan is required on file before they can participate in any school field trips. A new action plan is required every school year. If you have not already submitted this paperwork, please do so as soon as possible to avoid any delays in your child’s participation. The required forms can be found on the school website here. Thank you for helping us keep all students safe and prepared.
