MVIS is buzzing with excitement as we head into Homecoming Week! This week, we have special dress-up days to celebrate! Encourage your child to join in the fun.

Just a reminder—there is no school on Wednesday, September 17th. Please check ParentSquare for sign-ups for our upcoming Parent-Teacher Connection meetings.

This week, our CHARGE focus is on the G – Give Effort. At MVIS, giving effort means trying your best even when things feel challenging, asking questions when you need help, and staying persistent until the job is done. We are encouraging students to show that extra effort not just in academics, but also in friendships, activities, and making our school a positive place for everyone!

During Homecoming Week, we’re excited to celebrate College GO! Week with fun dress-up spirit days that encourage students to start thinking about their future goals and college dreams. Join us in showing school spirit while promoting college and career readiness!

Monday: Wacky for College Day - Wear your wackiest college gear

Tuesday: Military Match Up Day - March with your twin in camo, military, or red, white, and blue

Thursday: Future Career Day - Dress like your future career

Friday: Spirit Day - Show your MV pride with MV gear or house colors

Our Book Fair runs Wednesday, September 17th through Wednesday, September 24th! We accept all major credit cards, most tap-to-pay cards, Scholastic eGift Cards, and cash. Parents—feel free to stop in and shop before or after parent-teacher conferences.

Our Art Club callout meeting is Thursday, September 25th from 3:30-4:30 in Art Room 111. We will discuss the purpose of Art Club, brainstorm ideas, and set our goals for the year. If your child is interested in joining and would like to attend our callout meeting, please complete this permission form by Wednesday, September 24th. If I do not have a form, your child will not be able to stay after school.

Chapel Park Church is running a coat drive. If your student is in need of a new winter coat, please sign up on the attached form. Submissions are due by Tuesday, September 23rd.

MVIS will be offering 4 sessions of Peer Tutoring and Study Skills. These sessions will take place in the MVIS library on Thursdays at 7:30 AM.

Session 1: Study Skills Lessons Only September 11th - October 2nd

Sessions 2-4 Peer Tutoring (Middle and High School National Honor Society Tutors)

Session 2: Oct 30th - Dec 4th

Session 3: Jan 15th - Feb 26th

Session 4: April 2nd - April 30th

Our first after school bash was a HUGE success. Thank you to students for great behavior. Thank you to staff for your time in making sure the bash ran smoothly. Thank you to parents for your patience with a new event. As with anything new, we will continue to make improvements. Our next bash will be in in October.

If your student is interested in wrestling, please see the attached document for Marauder Wrestling Club. There is a call out meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 16th or Wednesday, September 17th at 6pm in the MVHS Main Gym Corridor.

Huge thank you to the Mt. Vernon Foundation for supporting our library. We enjoyed hosting those that donated to our library. Staff, students and teachers are very appreciative of the generosity in our community.
