Car Rider Tag Request

After filling out the form, you can pick up your car rider tag from the MVIS Office.

  • MVIS AM Drop off instructions

The following are the instructions for A.M. car rider drop off at the intermediate school. The drop-off line will open at 7:30 A.M. Please do not begin arriving prior to this as it will disrupt the operations of the building.

There are two parking lots that will be utilized for pickup and drop off: the north lot and the east lot. Cars will enter the east lot and be directed by a school official to fill multiple columns in single-file lines.

    Filling the north lot

Once the lot is filled, or at 8:13 A.M., the east lot will stop parking cars in that lot and begin directing traffic to the north lot.

    East lot student release

At 8:13 A.M., students will be released en masse by a school official from the east lot. Students will exit their vehicles and walk towards doors 1, 2, and 4. The intermediate school’s doors will open to students at 8:15 A.M. Once all students are clear from the east lot, a school official will systematically release the cars from the east lot.

    North lot student release exiting

Meanwhile, newly arriving cars will be directed to populate the north lot. As cars from the east lot are exiting, cars at the curb in the north lot will be instructed to release their students and enter through door 17. Once the east lot is emptied, the cars from the north lot will be directed to exit onto 200 West by a school official. As a reminder, cars will only be able to exit to the north.

Mt. Vernon Intermediate School officially begins at 8:35 A.M. If students are not dropped off and in the building by 8:33 A.M., they will need to go to the front office, as they will be counted tardy. Please plan accordingly and arrive early to avoid tardiness.

  • Pick up instructions - lot orientation and car rider tag

Prior to the first day of school, guardians who plan on picking up their students from school will need to notify the Intermediate School office. Parents need to register their students for car rider pickup through the form linked above.

Once signed up, the Intermediate School office will assign a number to each student who is being picked up. Guardians will be required to present this number to a school official prior to picking up their students daily.

The drop-off line will open at 2:45 P.M. Please do not begin arriving before this, as it will disrupt the operations of the building.

    Filling the north lot

Cars will enter the north lot and be directed by a school official to park in three rows around the perimeter of the lot.

    Car Identification / Merge

At around 3:25 P.M., a school official will enter the lot and begin checking pickup numbers. This information will be relayed to another school official inside the building, who will organize car-riding students.

    East lot lineup / backfilling

Soon thereafter, the school official will release the first 12 cars in the line in a zipper fashion to the front 12 sidewalk spaces. These cars will park in a single-file line in these spaces and wait for their student to enter their vehicles.

    Exiting and pick-up instructions

Once all 12 cars have their students, a school official will direct them to exit the lot out of the same locations where they entered. As a reminder, cars will only be able to exit to the north.

Meanwhile, the school official in the north lot will continue to identify the next 12 car rider numbers and release that batch of cars into the recently vacated sidewalk spots. This process will continue until all students are picked up.
